Brews in 4.5 minutes
Step 01. Prepare.
Fill and boil the kettle.
Carefully weigh out 16-18g of coffee. If using beans, grind to medium coarse.
Step 02. Add the coffee.
Add the ground coffee to your French press and place it on the scales.
Start the timer.
Step 03. Bloom.
Pour all 480ml of water into the French press in one go. It should be around 93-96° C.
Stir the water gently to make sure the coffee is saturated evenly.
Step 04. Steep, break and skim.
Carefully place the plunger on top of the French press – but don’t press it down yet.
Leave to steep for four minutes from the start of your pour.
When your timer shows four minutes, remove the lid and break the crust with a spoon. Skim off any floating grounds for clarity.
Step 05. Plunge and serve.
Slowly and evenly, press down the plunger. This should take 15-30 seconds.
Decant your brew into your server or mug.
